This series is an exploration of my skills to address and break some stereotypes related to colour, body type, gender as well as personal beliefs. For this, I have created freehand sketches using Procreate and refined them in Adobe Illustrator. The main concept of this series is 'BEING UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU' and that's why I have kept them as raw as they can be while still trying to convey the message that I am trying to portrait here.
THE ONE WHO GLOWS IN THE DARK
This design is inspired by the 'BLACK LIVES MATTER' campaign and an anti-racism ad that emphasized the value of black children's skin color. To highlight its significance, the design features a glowing or sparkling effect, making it stand out in the dark.
THE ONE WHO DEFINES GRACE
This design is inspired by the dusky beauties of India, reflecting a celebration of their natural skin tones and mid-sized bodies. Recognizing that some people feel insecure about these features, the design honours those who embrace and define grace with their true selves.
THE ONE WHO BLOSSOMS IN THE DARKNESS
This design is inspired by a social media post where a girl adorned a band-aid with flower petals on her heart, symbolizing deeper meaning. As someone who has faced body-related comments but now embraces my body as part of who I am, I celebrate those who accept themselves and thrive despite challenges.
THE ONE BORN TO BREAK THE BARRIERS
This design is inspired by girls wearing hijabs playing soccer in a park, despite barriers against headgear in sports. It celebrates those who dare to dream, work hard, and advocate for others, breaking through societal barriers.
THE ONE WHO KNOWS HER WORTH
This design aims to inspire women who fear judgment and let it hinder their self-expression. It encourages them to embrace their true selves, dress and act freely, and speak their minds without worry. It's a tribute to those who know their worth and those still discovering it. YOUR LIFE, YOUR CHOICE.
THE ONE WHO IS NOT PERFECT BUT THE REAL YOU!
This design emphasizes being real over being perfect, celebrating authenticity and self-expression. It conveys that regardless of hair or skin color, body type, or shape, everyone is beautiful as they are. This final design in the series is for those who embrace their true selves, imperfections and all.
